GOTRKC in the Wild: See Us Around the Community This Fall!

At Girls on the Run Greater Kansas City, our work extends far beyond program sites. Throughout the fall, our team will be out in the community connecting with families, schools, volunteers, partners, and supporters who help make our mission possible. Whether we're providing resources at a school event, meeting future volunteers, or building relationships with community partners, every conversation helps us reach more girls and ensure they have access to life-changing programming.

This season, keep an eye out for GOTRKC in the wild!

Building Community Partnerships

We'll kick off our community outreach with a visit to Gamma Phi Beta at the University of Kansas on August 11, where we'll connect with chapter members and share opportunities to support Girls on the Run. Later in September, we'll partner with Gamma Phi Beta and our Youth Advisory Board for a Hair Tie Party, bringing together collegiate and youth leaders in support of our mission.

Growing Life-Saving Skills

On August 15, our entire staff will participate in CPR Training. We're excited to increase our preparedness and encourage others in the community to do the same. Investing in life-saving skills helps create safer environments for the girls, families, and volunteers we serve.

Connecting with Schools and Families

As the school year begins, our team will be attending several back-to-school and community events to meet families and share information about Girls on the Run programming:

  • Academie Lafayette Meet the Teacher Night (August 17)
  • Harold Holliday Back-to-School Night (August 20)
  • North Kansas City School District Vendor Fair (August 21)
  • North Kansas City School District Community Resource Fair (August 27)

These events provide a wonderful opportunity for families to learn more about our programs, ask questions, and discover how Girls on the Run helps participants build confidence, character, and connection.

Meeting Community Members Across Kansas City

We'll also be representing GOTRKC at several community and workplace events, including:

  • Burns & McDonnell Fair (August 20)
  • Royals Game Tabling Event (September 4)
  • Oracle Health Fair (October 13)

These outreach opportunities help us connect with potential coaches, volunteers, donors, and families while increasing awareness of Girls on the Run throughout the Kansas City metro.

Why We Show Up

Every event we attend helps us grow our impact. Whether we're speaking with a parent looking for a positive extracurricular activity, recruiting a volunteer coach, or sharing our mission with a new community partner, these conversations help ensure more girls have access to programs that inspire confidence, build skills, and strengthen relationships.

If you see us out in the community this fall, stop by and say hello! We'd love to meet you, answer your questions, and share how Girls on the Run Greater Kansas City is helping girls recognize their strengths and realize their limitless potential.

We can't wait to see you out there!
