Each season Girls on the Run Serving Greater Kansas City identifies and selects a dynamic group of coaches to lead each of our teams of 8-20 girls. Coaches are parents, teachers, school administrators, college students and other community members who are committed to developing and celebrating our girls.
The Head Coach is a volunteer position that works with a team of coaches to facilitate the Girls on the Run curriculum to program participants. This position entails approximately four hours per week for a 10-week commitment.
The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach at a Girls on the Run program site while serving as a role model and mentor for program participants. The position entails approximately 1.5-3 hours per week for a 10-week commitment.
The Junior Coach is a volunteer position for high school students to assist the Head and Assistant Coaches at a Girls on the Run program site. The position entails approximately 1.5-3 hours per week for a 10-week commitment.
All new coaches are required to complete a short Learning Academy Online Training and attend one New Coach Training in-person. You have two options for the in-person Coach Training:
Tuesday, August 29 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Garmin International (1200 E 151st St, Olathe, KS 66062)
Saturday, September 9 from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Garmin International (1200 E 151st St, Olathe, KS 66062)
Coaches may indicate a preference for the site at which they would like to coach. If coaches do not have a preference, we will assign them to a location in need of volunteers.
